Defendry Receives Government Award to Demonstrate Active Shooter Defense Solution for US Air Force Applications

We at Defendry are on a mission to save lives from the current active shooter epidemic, and we are very excited to announce the procurement of a government-awarded contract with the Small Business Innovation Research program (SBIR) to demonstrate our active shooter defense solution’s usefulness for US Air Force applications. Defendry’s AI-powered software integrates with security cameras to automatically detect, deter, & report threats like a person holding a weapon in a location where they shouldn’t. While issued weapons may be openly carried in many places on Air Force property, Defendry can help protect the locations where that is not so. 

“The military has not been spared by the epidemic of active shooters, and we’re proud to do our part to help,” said Dr. Sean Huver, Defendry’s chief science officer. “Our computer vision technology can greatly augment situational awareness when it matters most, when lives are at stake.”

The highly-competitive SBIR award program encourages domestic small businesses to engage in Federally-beneficial research and development that also has the potential for commercialization. The SBIR award gives us the opportunity to field test and showcase our active shooter defense system in the dynamic Department of Defense environment in an attempt to secure US Air Force contracts over the next few months.
